What is Art-Stream? With the development of new media technologies, "streaming" goes beyond movie presentation. Sequenced media installations and code-based art make a new form of expression available on all viewing devices. What is a Sequenced media installation? A program delivering sampled art in sequence with timed intervals. Examples of this are C-9 Motion, and C-10 Motion. What is code-based art? Similar to sequenced media installation code-based art relies on code-calling samples. However, the format is a complex matrix of code laid out on a grid. An example of this is Matrix 4. How did this new art form happen? Glen River has a long experimental history with Web-Art Installations. This informed his recent collaborations with Albert Isner, Gitchie Shanti, Marsha Kallias, Zola Pliest, Nina Turner, and Louise Makum. The resulting Motion Art Installations are a new art form available world-wide. Why is there no sound? This visual art form is originally intended as a living space presence to involve the viewer as art in contrast to movie or advertisement. As a meditation rather than a selling tool, the art is intended to exist along with other activities. This makes it ideal as a home presence while working on projects, exercising, or having friends over to visit. In professional settings such as waiting rooms or lobbies, business may be conducted and individuals able to fill out forms, make inquiries, or simply pass the time. As a stress reducing influence, the art presentations are effective in a patient's home or hospital room. There are some programs in production including the option of sound. What is a Chain Play Program? Chain Play is when programs are chained together. Each program plays for a fixed time, such as 45min. After the play time finishes, the next program in the chain plays. This cycle continues until all programs in the chain finish. Then the cycle starts again. To exit the program cycle, there is an invisible link in the bottom left of the screen. Why would someone prefer chain play? The chain play option is desirable when continuing variation over a long period of time is needed. This might be appropriate for a waiting room or hospital lobby. It may also be desirable if a patient or client has limited mobility. Why would someone prefer chain start point selection? The option of starting chain play at any program point allows more choice. Personal preference allows the long play program to be sequenced to individual's taste. Why would someone prefer a single play program? The single play option allows a favorite selection. Just as someone might choose to play a favorite CD, so a favorite visual album may be selected. |
